Christmas weather forecast for US and UK cities

The next Christmas Day falls on Friday 25 December 2026.

Will it be a white Christmas, a grey one or just a damp one? This board shows the live weather in US and UK cities, the Christmas Day forecast once it is within range, and what we think of each sky.

    The roast board

    • New York

      Now 50°F (10°C), clear sky

No weather drama in New York today. The city will have to find some elsewhere.

    • Chicago

      Now 57°F (14°C), overcast clouds

Grey over the river. Chicago wears it well, to be fair.

    • Boston

      Now 39°F (4°C), clear sky

A sharp, cold Boston day, with the harbor wind finding every gap.

    • Denver

      Now 48°F (9°C), overcast clouds

Afternoon thunderheads over the foothills, right on cue.

    • Minneapolis

      Now 55°F (13°C), mist

Minneapolis weather has two moods: frozen, and making up for it.

    • Buffalo

      Now 43°F (6°C), few clouds

Grey over Lake Erie, which is Buffalo’s winter wallpaper.

    • Seattle

      Now 43°F (6°C), clear sky

A dry, sunny Seattle day. The mountain is out and showing off.

    • Los Angeles

      Now 61°F (16°C), moderate rain

Weather so reliable here that the forecast mostly works as reassurance.

    • Miami

      Now 81°F (27°C), mist

Warm, bright and a little damp around the edges. Classic Miami.

    • London

      Now 9°C, mist

A crisp London morning. The pigeons look personally offended.

    • Manchester

      Now 7°C, overcast clouds

Cold and damp, the Manchester house blend.

    • Edinburgh

      Now 11°C, broken clouds

Grey over Arthur’s Seat. Very dramatic, very Edinburgh.

    • Glasgow

      Now 6°C, few clouds

Glasgow weather: changeable, but mostly in the direction of rain.

    • Cardiff

      Now 6°C, fog

Mild and damp, which is Cardiff’s comfort zone.

    • Aberdeen

      Now 8°C, broken clouds

Grey granite, grey sky. Aberdeen colour-coordinates.

Live data from OpenWeatherMap, refreshed about every half hour. The lines are the clean setting; severe weather is shown without a joke.

What counts as a white Christmas?

It depends who you ask. In the UK, the Met Office counts a white Christmas when a single snowflake is observed falling somewhere in the UK during the 24 hours of 25 December. In the US, NOAA counts one when there is at least an inch of snow on the ground on Christmas morning.

When does the Christmas Day forecast show up?

Our forecast runs about five days ahead, so the Christmas Day column fills in from around 20 December. Until then each city shows its current conditions.
